For the last eighteen years, Alan Van Es has been focusing his executive
search activities on the ICT, bio-technology and higher education industry
sectors within Australia and New Zealand. This has included search
assignments to appoint CEOs and first line reports for multi-national and
major Australian clients in the software, middleware, hardware, outsourcing,
communications, research and consulting fields.
Some of the international ICT client organizations include Sun Microsystems,
Silicon Graphics, Autodesk, Alcatel, Avirnex, Hitachi Data Systems, Data
General. Datapoint, Digital, as well as a number of the local ICT companies
including Ozemail, Austar Communications, Telstra, Optus and numerous local
research and “start-up” companies
Alan Van Es graduated from the University of New South Wales with a degree
in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.
In 1987, Alan joined TASA International, as a partner. TASA was a global
executive search firm with some 33 offices in 24 countries. At TASA
International, he carried out senior level executive search assignments in
Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific area, with an emphasis on ICT ,
bio-technology, higher education research and commercialization sector,
working for clients both in the private and the government sectors. Alan was
a member of TASA’s Global ICT Practice Group, and worked with his
international TASA colleagues on numerous global search assignments.
After TASA International was sold to a US recruitment firm, Alan Van Es
established Strathsearch, a business specializing in executive search and
strategic consulting, in early 1999, with a network of affiliated executive
search consultancies around Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
Alan has held numerous CEO and senior executive positions in the corporate
sector throughout his career, including Managing Director of Ateco Holdings
Limited, Group General Manager at Clyde Industries Limited, and Managing
Director of Strathsearch Pty Limited, an Executive Search and Management
Consultancy Group. He has also been a partner of several international
consultancy firms, including TASA International and PA Management
Consulting.
Alan is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, a Fellow of the
Australian Institute of Company Directors, Affiliate of the Securities
Institute of Australia and a Company Director.
